It's all part of the adventure.
Another thing we neglected to do was make a reservation for somewhere to sleep. This is nothing new though. We got off the train, walked in a random direction with no luck, pulled out the guide book and followed it to a hostel. Thankfully when we got there it was open and had space for us. We didn't really consider how busy and full everywhere would be because of New Years.
Once checked in, we claimed beds and put our bags down before going right back out. The plan was to walk for a bit as find food, but we get distracted easily and didn't find that food until much later. We stopped in 4 museums to check prices and hours so we could go back to them before we leave, we looked at buildings and canals and then we found ourselves on the pedestrian shopping streets. We took a quick look here or there before seeing a lego store and rushing excitedly to it!
I'm a little boy at heart. Sometimes.
We spent over an hour in there "oooo"ing and "ahhh"ing over this or that and also making our own Lego men. Or women in my case. We had tons of fun with that and came out feeling giddy.
Finally, time for food! Having already tried Danish food yesterday (we are trying to get typical food from each country) we thought it would be ok to eat in an Irish pub today.
That was an excellent decision. As far as I'm concerned, pub fare is always good. We walked out buzzing and full and very satisfied. And also even more excited for Ireland!
The rest of the evening was spent wandering all over and seeing what there was to see, as well as stopping in every single hotel or hostel we came across checking if they had space for New Year's Eve. The hostel we are currently in only had 2 nights for us.
We did eventually find one.
Some more walking led to sore feet and eventually back to the hostel to crash!
xoxo
