Imagination and Fear

Sometimes when I do things, normal things, or things I've done plenty of times before, I let my imagination get away with me and it changes the way I see them.
Other things just freak me out. I'm kind of a wimp sometimes.
Here is a collection of things that scared me in so,e way or another, they all happened in 2 days during my last trip to North Battleford with R.

The first place we went shall be referred to as 'Bee house' because it was exactly that. From the outside when we were still near the road the house actually looked like a fairly new build with nice brick work, but upon closer examination we realized it was actually just weird brick looking shingles that covered the whole outside.

Once we walked up around the side of the house we saw rows of stacked boxes that I immediately knew were full of bees.
Let me just tell you something. I am VERY afraid of bees. I've been stung many times by both bees and wasps, and it hurts like hell, but my real fear comes from my mom. She is extremely allergic to most things that sting and if she doesn't get benedryl/epipen it could probably kill her. Hence, I am afraid.
Anyway, all that aside I just wasn't up for being stung so we had to find a different way around. That other way ended up being through the bushes growing around the other side.

Once we made it up to the doorway I quickly realized that there were more bee boxes inside the house too. It didn't appear that there were any bees though so I just made the effort to avoid that room. Beyond that this house was pretty basic and empty.

The next house has been lovingly dubbed as "The Alticane Asylum."
Firstly I will tell you that as far as I'm concerned Alticane isn't a real place and doesn't deserve signage or a place on the map. That might just sound like I'm being an ass, but realistically it isn't a real place. We followed the directions, turned at the sign for Alticane and went the appropriate number of kilometers that should have put us in the town. When we didn't find it I decided to check google maps on the iPhone to see where we went wrong. It would have me believe that we were already there. We weren't.

Long story short, we didn't find what we were actually looking for. It was disappointing but we found an abandoned building near by and that boosted us back up.
I'm not sure what this place was, it didn't look like a home.

The pale purple and green peeling paint was kind of soothing in a strange way. Now the thing I found to be quite strange was the pole that stood against the outside of the house and the wire than ran in one wall, through the rooms and attached to a door knob on the opposite wall. What is the point of this???
In my head you get electrocuted for trying to escape through the back door..

Lastly, and the house that freaked me out to the point that I actually left is the "Child abduction house."
From the outside this was a cute little home with a big front window. From the doorway it was simple and empty. Once inside though, it was anything but.

The first thing I noticed was a broke record player on the floor and a shirt sleeve dangling from a hole in the ceiling. In the next rooms I noticed broken, torn and dirty dolls and stuffed toys. Thanks to movies like 'Chucky' dolls can seem kind of scary. Here and there I also noticed pieces of girls clothing. Old and dirty.

Into another room I found the only bit of the original home that was still around. An ugly green bathtub. It seemed strange and out of place and a bit to clean. In that same room was a broken sink and a mattress. There was a mattress in one of the other rooms as well.

For the first time we actually found stairs that were solid and sturdy and that I felt comfortable walking on. Very carefully and slowly of course.
I wish I didn't. At the top of the stairs were 2 rooms, bedrooms I assume. One was mostly empty and unexceptional, only a Mickey Mouse decal graced the walls.
The room opposite was another story all together. It was full of stuff to the point that I couldn't even see the floor. And by stuff I mean more girls clothes and stuffed toys. In the back corner I noticed that a panel of the wall had been removed to expose a shallow area behind it. There was another mattress in there.

And that is where I draw the line. I promptly made my way back down the stairs, took R's hand and told him it was time to go.
